A look at the station building's platform façade reveals that the white paint is not continued from

the rear. The absence of the paint allows a clear view of the typical LC&DR cream brickwork, still

in evidence at many of the company's surviving stations (a prime example being Chatham). Note

that the canopy here only protects the immediate surrounds of the building entrance. David Glasspool

 


 

An eastward view 20th November 2004 reveals the original waiting shelter and the 1937 lattice

footbridge. The shelter here is unusually lengthy and its side walls formerly extended around to

the front, each end at least reaching the first canopy strut. The brick foundations are prominent

in blue, although several paint applications over the years gives them a concrete appearance.

A night view on 16th April 2006 shows that the waiting shelter is well lit for passengers. Also,

since the earlier pictures were taken, the station lampposts and seats have seen a repaint.
