Northfleet

A 31st May 2006 view of the surviving station building reveals that the yellow pattern of the
entrance door (see earlier picture on previous page) has now been painted over and a name
board has appeared above. Devoid of any company details, the name board is reminiscent of
the plain type perpetuated during the 1970s. David Glasspool

The oldest structure in this 10th May 2004 view is the subway entrance. That fenced off corner
section of land, where the gantry and bushes can be seen emanating from, is where the ''up'' side
waiting shelter formerly stood. Platform coverage eventually appeared on this platform in 2005.

These are the cement sidings mentioned in the main text, viewed looking east. If one follows the now
evident palisade fencing along, the descent can be deciphered. David Glasspool
General Station Review
Originally opened: 30th July 1849
Level of originality: There is a lot missing. Of the 1849 arrangement, only the subway entrances survive - not even the bricks of the platforms are in evidence anymore. Of the 1891 station, only the ''down'' ticket office / waiting shelter remains, but even here the chimney stacks have gone and the original valance is no longer extant. This is in somewhat forlorn condition, not helped by vandalism. At risk.
