Hoo Junction

Hoo Junction

Now onto the ''up'' yard. On Sunday 22nd January 2006, Class 66 No. 66127 is seen pulling out

of one of the siding loops with a rake of yellow ''Network Rail'' low-sided loaded ballast wagons.

Although there seems to be very little movement at the yard over the weekend, a number of

locomotives are nevertheless left ticking over, the sound of General Motors engines filling the air.

No catch points are provided at the eastern junction of the ''up'' yard, but instead an escape lane

features, complete with buffer stops. Note the white lever on the right, which manually controls

the adjacent set of points. David Glasspool

A general westward view of the ''up'' yard reveals an array of ballast wagons on the left and the

tall posts which provide floodlighting. On the right, on the other side of the main running lines

can be seen three Class 73s: Nos. 73136, 73208 and 73206. David Glasspool
