A final eastward view better illustrates the charming ''down'' side waiting shelter, with simplified
canopy valance. In common with the other stations along the route, the waiting shelter has seen
its window frames bricked up. The wooded area on the right, just beyond the platform, is the
former site of the 1961-closed goods yard. David Glasspool

A more recent view of the station building reveals that the blue paint scheme has succumbed to the
now favoured ''battleship grey'' colours. It appears that someone has been helping themselves to
the new slate tiles, the roof valleys showing evidence of being tampered with. Perhaps they were
required for a home renovation? Further to this, the platform-facing elevation of the nearside
appendix has witnessed the removal of even more bricks. Raymond Fuell
