A second eastward view from the nearby level crossing includes both platform extensions. The
extension at the far end of the ''down'' platform marks the former position of the signal box.

A view of the façade reveals the splendid crème brickwork with orange lining, but also shows that
all ground floor windows have been boarded up. Those on the upper floor even have metal grills
across the glazing. On the plus side, unlike the platform canopies, the entrance canopy retains its

Further scrutiny of the main building shows partial demolition on the right-hand side, more boarded
up windows, and some arbitrary patches of crème paint. Also in evidence is a newly-slated roof, but
as will soon be seen, this did not last for long. David Glasspool
