Greenhithe

For Bluewater

15th March 2008

The new station building had been completed by the time this picture was taken, but had yet to

open. Work had started on redeveloping the site immediately behind the ''up'' platform, to make

room for a lift shaft. David Glasspool

Just two days later, the lift shafts had been erected on both platforms. These are to a similar design

as those corrugated metal examples which appeared during the Dartford station rebuild of 1972 to

1973. David Glasspool

The dual carriageway in the foreground was built in time for the Bluewater opening in March 1999.

The original road can be seen passing under the narrow railway bridge left of centre. The mass of

scaffolding is emerging from behind the ''up'' platform, where building work was underway to

complete the lift shafts and provide new waiting accommodation. David Glasspool
