

Fawkham Junction

The junction is not far behind the camera in this north east view towards Southfleet in about August
2001. In this short distance the power source has already switched to overhead wires (in fact, this
occurs not much further to the right of the leading power car in the first picture). In the above picture,
however, the masts are yet to receive wires, as we see the track cutting through the picturesque

The bridge where the previous photograph was taken can be seen in the background of this view
of the line, over four years later, on 27th November 2005. Beyond the bridge, the line is no longer
in a cutting. Obvious differences between this and the previous picture include the presence of
overhead wires and third rail. David Glasspool
