The view towards the Thames tunnels leading to Dagenham in Essex. As can be seen, a barrier

has been erected just beyond the road bridge blocking off the threshold of the tunnels. ''Kent Portal

Yard'' is on the slope beyond the bridge, on the right-hand side of the tunnels. David Glasspool

As aforementioned, a line linking the former South Eastern Railway's North Kent route with the

new Channel Tunnel lines has been constructed. The single-track line spurs off the up North

Kent Line, therefore only trains which have originated from the Gravesend direction can use it.

The line at ground level on the right-hand side is a spur which leads to some sidings, now known

as 'Church Path Pit Sidings'. The single-track line to the sidings also leads to another connecting

spur with the down North Kent Line. David Glasspool

A view of Church Path Pit Sidings on 29th June 2004 still shows the track bed awaiting lines

to be laid. It is envisaged that the sidings will be used by domestic trains. David Glasspool
