Class 33
Crompton
South Eastern Division

No. 33035 is depicted approaching Rochester in April 1979, fronting a line of tanker wagons.
The double slip in the foreground once gave access to an extensive low-level goods yard, the
site of which has recently been subject to redeveloping. No. 33035 later had the distinction
of being the only member of its type to receive Network SouthEast livery. Withdrawn by EWS
within seven months of being under this company's ownership, the locomotive, by then named
''Spitfire'' and still wearing its striking blue livery, remained in store until being dispatched to
the Barrow Hill Roundhouse in Derbyshire, in June 2000. David Glasspool Collection

On 22nd July 1993, No. 33050 was depicted inside the carriage shed at Stewarts Lane, it having
been withdrawn in May. Sandwiched in-between Class 56 No. 56001 and a pair of VSOE Pullman
vehicles, the name and depot plates had been removed by this time. The locomotive remained in
this state for a further three and a half years, being scrapped in the January of 1997.

No. 33061 is seen at London Victoria at the head of the Orient Express on 13th December
1986. This will be a round tour of Kent. Note the BR Mk 1 carriage sandwiched in-between
the locomotive and sparkling Pullmans. David Glasspool Collection
