Class 159

London Waterloo provides the backdrop for this next picture from 12th May 2004, which displays
No. 159017 under the then recently restored trainshed roof, the latter of which had over two million
individual panes of glass replaced. David Glasspool

Also seen at Waterloo on 12th May 2004 was No. 159021, stabled alongside platform 10. In the
background, raised on stilts, are two generations of station control centre (the latest one being
behind the digital clock display). The older variant, immediately behind the unit, is virtually
identical to that which formerly straddled the end of the platforms at Charing Cross, before the
trainshed there was dismantled in 1988. David Glasspool

On 4th June 2004, No. 159014 is depicted at the stabling sidings of its home depot: Salisbury. The
depot is situated upon the former site of the GWR terminus station (the buildings of which still exist).
The red brick wall on the far left is that of the remaining SR site. David Glasspool
