A westward view six months later shows signs of change. The greenery behind the ''down'' platform

has been cleared to make way for a second station entrance and a new bus stop turnaround facility.

Class 66 No. 66569 is seen approaching the station on a container working from Thamesport

on 10th November 2004. The overgrown area on the left side of the running lines marks the

former site of the connecting spur with the Empire Paper Mills at Ingress Abbey. David Glasspool

 


28th November 2007

 

Three years later, No. 376015 is observed trundling into Greenhithe with a Gravesend stopping

service, pairing with a second Class 376 unit. By this time, a new station building was on the verge

of completion on the ''down'' platform, and palisade fencing had replaced a proportion of the

prefabricated concrete backing. David Glasspool
