Farningham Road
4 Vep No. 3568 pulls into platform 1 at Farningham Road on 18th September 2004, forming a
humble service to Victoria. The very modern and safety conscious-looking footbridge replaces
a more traditional footbridge which was accidentally demolished in Summer 2003 during track
relaying - one of the track laying cranes collided with it. The water tower mentioned in the main
text was situated on the right, immediately behind where the staircase of the new footbridge now

A 9th March 2006 view reveals signs of a recent restoration effort. The station building has
received a new coat of paint, but it would appear that its has been more than just a simple
application of white emulsion. Before the work, the brick work pattern could not be seen, it
being hidden underneath the smooth cream finish (as shown on the previous page). Now,
however, the bricks can be seen emerging. Those previously unpainted walls remained
untreated. Sadly, the station still has blocked up windows. Battle of Britain Class No.
34067 ''Tangmere'' is seen hurtling through the station with ''The Statesman''. This was
